Description

This SvSAN software is installed on an ESX server. It manages the ESX server’s directly attached storage, presenting it as a virtual SAN that can be shared by the VMs running on a cluster of ESX hosts. The SvSAN can also manage external RAID controllers which, in turn, manage the physical operation of a group of hard disks. The appliance makes this networked disk storage look just like one or more local disks in the SAN.

This storage management interface enables you to manage your data storageeffectively and efficiently with no detailed knowledge about the underlyingtechnology required. The virtual appliance, the virtual SAN and the storagesubsystems can all be managed from a single, easy-to-use vCenter plugin.

VMFS datastores can be created in one step; SM Manager Suite performing allthe underlying operations automatically (creating mirrored volumes, initiatingdiscovery and login, configuring paths, formatting volumes).
