Intern Experience
"VMware always was the place I wanted to work for. When I interned here last summer, I realized the meaning of freedom at work. Even as an intern I was given complete responsibility of my work. What impressed me the most is the trust people have in one other and the zeal with which people execute. These were the reasons I chose to get back to VMware after school. I guess what delights me here is the mix of intellect and fun-loving character among the people and positive energy around." — Gopala, MTS Engineer, Virtual Infrastructure Mgmt
I worked as an intern in summer 2007 in the Performance group. I worked on large page performance optimization in ESX and learned the core memory virtualization concepts in detail which couldn't have been grasped without working at VMware. The people here are friendly and helping which made my internship so easy and exciting. Although I was working in performance group but I got to interact with other teams like Kernel and Monitor group exchanging wild ideas, that’s the culture here at VMware. Not to forget about the intern-mentor-manager party which we had last summer was a blast. Last but not the least you get to go to the boot camp where you get exposed to almost every product VMware is working on which is pretty exciting. The superb experience at VMware left me with no choice but to join again as an intern this summer (2008) to work with the exciting and learned people.” — Qasim, MTS Intern, Performance Team
“I became a VMware Fusion fan when I decided to get my MBA at MIT Sloan. VMware Fusion allowed me to get a shiny new Mac and still comply with my school's Windows system requirements. I told all my friends about the product and even wrote a blog post about it. Needless to say I was thrilled when a Product Marketing internship position at VMware turned up months later. I'm working on a campaign to help consumers understand how virtualization can solve their application compatibility needs. From conception to implementation, I've been given a lot of decision-making power. I can't think of a better way to spend the summer than evangelizing a solid product that I use and love.” — Sandy, Product Marketing Manager Intern, Desktop Solutions
“As a product manager intern, I have gotten the opportunity to work on both inbound and outbound activities. I was able to better understand the why and how of viral marketing, by producing YouTube videos, blog posts, etc. In addition, I am gaining a more thorough perspective of the industry through my current project of competitive analysis of VMware's consumer products. Secondly, having an interest in entrepreneurial management, I really liked VMware's innovation-focused culture. Being able to observe first-hand how a company manages such rapid growth was an aspect that really intrigued me about VMware.” — Jonathan, Product Marketing Manager Intern, Desktop Solutions
