Yes, VMware Site Recovery Manager integrates tightly with VMware Infrastructure and VMware VirtualCenter.

VMware Site Recovery Manager requires the following VMware products:

• VMware VirtualCenter Management Server version 2.5 or later including all required updates and patches. Both VMware VirtualCenter Foundation and the full version of VMware VirtualCenter Management Server are supported.
• VMware Infrastructure version 3.0.2 or 3.5 or later including all required updates and patches.

No, VMware Site Recovery Manager does not provide replication.  It requires storage-based replication available from VMware storage partners.

VMware Site Recovery Manager 1.0 is designed for use with array-based replication for block-based storage.  Storage vendors are responsible for creating and certifying replication adapters that allow VMware Site Recovery Manager to integrate with their replication platforms.  A list of available replication adapters will be available in the compatibility guide included in the VMware Site Recovery Manager documentation.
